Job Title: Stores Person and Warehouse Operative
Location: Multiple Sites (RS Cowes, Cheetah Marine, RS Sailing in Romsey, RS Electric Hamble) potentially with trips to the Midlands or customer locations
Reports to: RS Dispatch Manager (with dotted lines to Workshop Managers / Supervisors in Ventnor and Cowes)
Job Type: Full-Time
Role Overview:
The Stores Person and Warehouse Operative will play a critical role in managing and maintaining stock across multiple sites. The role involves ensuring that all stock items are accurately checked in, recorded, and stored efficiently. You will also from time to time be responsible for the transportation of materials, including boat building products and fully built boats, between various company sites. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stock Management:
- Check in all stock items upon delivery and ensure they are correctly placed in the appropriate storage areas.
- Record and verify all delivery notes, ensuring that items are accurately checked into the SAGE system.
- Regularly liaise with the Purchasing department to monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Conduct regular stock takes and ensure that updates are accurately recorded to provide a clear understanding of stock availability across all sites.
- Transportation and Logistics:
- Safely transport materials, including boat building products and fully assembled boats, between company sites (RS Cowes, Cheetah Marine, RS Sailing in Romsey, RS Electric Hamble).
- Occasionally travel to the Midlands or to customer locations for deliveries or stock transfers as required.
- Ensure that all transportation is conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with site managers and other relevant staff to ensure smooth operations across all locations.
- Provide timely updates to the Purchasing department and other relevant stakeholders regarding stock levels and any discrepancies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for stock-related inquiries and issues across the various sites.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or logistics role is essential.
- Marine industry / Boat Building experience desirable
- Experience maintaining stock records including using stock management systems, particularly SAGE, is also desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong organisational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple sites.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A valid driver’s license is required, with experience in driving large vehicles and towing being advantageous.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy items as part of daily duties.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment and handling materials, including potentially hazardous products.
Additional Information:
- The role involves travel between multiple sites, and the candidate must be flexible and willing to adapt to the needs of the business.
- Occasional overnight stays may be required depending on the location and nature of the deliveries, particularly for trips to the Midlands and to customer locations.
