We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Finance to join our team and lead our financial function towards continued success. 

Position Overview: The Head of Finance will report to the joint CEOs of RS Marine Group and join the Group’s Management Team.   The Head of Finance is responsible for the financial strategy and day-to-day financial activities of RS Marine Group. This role requires a combination of strategic financial leadership, hands-on financial expertise, experience in leading and developing teams and the ability to nurture strong peer-level relationships.  It would be helpful to have some understanding of the way of working and opportunities within the marine leisure industry. 

Key Responsibilities 

 Provide strategic insight and business management 

  • Support the management team to develop medium- to longer-term business and associated financial objectives and plans. 
  • Develop, budget and forecast multi-year, annual, quarterly, and monthly financial results to support strategic decision-making accompanied by insightful and value-adding commentaries and recommendations. 
  • Lead FX hedging strategies, insurance management, and utility contracts to mitigate financial risks and optimize cost efficiencies. 
  • Support strategic development opportunities including M&A, major contract developments and shareholder reporting. 
  • Take responsibility for improving and delivering key areas of financial management across the business including bank reporting, cash management, directors’ dividend distribution. 
  • Develop and implement an IT/IS strategy with a focus on automation, leveraging synergies, delivering economies of scale and common processes across the group. 

 

Enable the management team to grow the business 

  • Liaise with other members of the management team to ensure that operating budgets and forecasts are understood, managed and met. 
  • Design and customize reports using tools such as Power Query and Sage Report Designer to provide actionable insights to stakeholders. 
  • Own and develop relationships with providers of financing and the auditors. 
  • Play a leading role in the management of risk utilising a risk register. 

 

Manage and develop the finance function 

  • Provide oversight and leadership of the finance team, including personal development, performance management and day-to-day support. 
  • Ensure compliance with FCA, ONS reporting requirements, and utilize various software tools including Sage200, Sage50, Excel, Power BI, and Power Query for financial analysis and reporting. 
  • Perform general administration tasks for Sage systems and manage system configurations to support efficient enterprise reporting. 
  • Manage short-term cash flow requirements and liquidity to ensure financial stability. 
  • Oversee payroll processing, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with regulatory standards. 
  • Coordinate audits, including fixed asset audits and various reconciliations, to ensure compliance and accuracy. 
  • Manage intercompany reconciliations, annual stocktake processes, and prepayments/accruals to maintain accurate financial records. 
  • Provide oversight and guidance on purchasing processes, bank reporting, and directors’ dividends distribution. 
  • Lead FX hedging strategies, insurance management, and utility contracts to mitigate financial risks and optimize cost efficiencies. 
  • Ensure compliance with FCA, ONS reporting requirements, and utilize various software tools including Sage200, Sage50, Excel, Power BI, and Power Query for financial analysis and reporting. 

 

Requirements and Skills: 

  • A business leadership mindset, able to see beyond the finance numbers to understand and guide how decisions and actions can help further grow a market-leading business  
  • Excellent manager of people 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capable of operating effectively within a leadership team 
  • Strong technical ability with experience in multi-currency consolidations 
  • Proven experience as a Head of Finance, Director of Finance, or similar leadership role ideally within the maritime manufacturing, or a comparable, industry. 
  • Thorough understanding of cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance. 
  • Strong proficiency in financial analysis, report design, and data analysis tools. 
  • Experience with intercompany reconciliations, audit processes, and FX hedging strategies. 
  • Ability and willingness to role up ones sleeves and self-deliver on tasks as circumstances require. 
  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc/BA) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree (MSc/MBA) or relevant certification (e.g. ACA/CFA/CPA) is preferred but not essential. 
  • Ongoing right to work in the UK
