If you happened to visit the RS Sailing stand at boot Düsseldorf this year, you might have noticed two things: 1) a broader range of models on display, showcasing everything from recreational dinghies and beach catamarans to our flagship racing boats, and 2) an intriguing addition to the line-up – an extra keelboat. So, what does this mean for RS Sailing and our 2025 offerings?
As we continue to expand our presence in both the racing, training and leisure sailing markets, we’ve been working to simplify and refine the way we present our boats. The goal? To offer clearer guidance for our customers as they navigate the wide variety of options we provide. The boats themselves and their award-winning designs remain unchanged, but we’re now grouping them into three distinct segments: Racing, Adventure, and Beach.
Racing
From weekend warriors to professional sailors, whether you’re participating in local club racing or aiming for World Sailing global competitions, our racing boats are designed to match your ambitions. RS Sailing was built from the heart of the racing community, and we value every sailor, volunteer and the vibrant class associations that come with it. By defining this segment, we’re making it easier than ever for customers to find the right boat for their racing style, experience, and progression through different classes.
Adventure
For over a decade, RS Sailing has been committed to creating boats that bridge the gap between learning to sail and enjoying relaxed family adventures. Beginning with our work with the Sea Cadets and the development of the RS Quest in 2015, followed by the RS Zest‘s success as a go-to boat for recreational sailors, our Adventure range is all about getting people on the water. Whether you’re learning, teaching, or simply looking for fun on the water, our Adventure boats offer versatility with a modern spin on classic designs.
Beach
Designed for fun, durability, and ease of use, our Beach range is all about spontaneous days on the water. These boats are made for launching from the beach, whether it’s a sunny day off the sand dunes of the Solent, blasting past caves and cliffs on French coastlines, or sailing off sandy shores in the Caribbean. Our rotomolded boats are perfect for those who want to jump into action, offering the robustness you need for carefree beach days.
Looking Ahead: Exploring Opportunities with the Aira 22
As RS Sailing has steadily expanded to meet the needs of leisure sailors and rental companies, we’ve realised there’s an opportunity for our Adventure range: a versatile keelboat that combines comfort, performance, and accessibility for those looking to explore the world of cruising and day sailing. The Aira 22 embodies this spirit.
First developed by Aira Boats in 2018, the Aira 22 draws inspiration from the Netherlands’ rich daysailer tradition, where families enjoy time on the water in boats that are as practical as they are comfortable. As the founder of Aira Boats looks towards retirement, they have sought a partner to help continue the journey of the Aira 22. With RS Sailing’s global reach and established network, we’re ideally positioned to expand the boat’s availability and introduce it to a wider audience.
At boot Düsseldorf 2025, the Aira 22 was displayed alongside the RS Sailing range to test the waters of this potential opportunity. While the future is still unfolding, we are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. The Aira 22 is a boat with a strong legacy. Stay tuned – there’s more to come.
